Jim McKenzie was installed as 2011-2012 president of the Rotary Club of Schaumburg A.M. during the club’s Installation & Awards Dinner held at Schaumburg’s Chicago Prime Steakhouse.   

 

Outgoing president Karen Maczka-Bishop noted the club’s 2010/2011 accomplishments during her pictorial review of club activities that included adding four new members. 

 

Maczka-Bishop presented Presidential Appreciation Awards to Paul & Judy Hennip for their combined years of service and behind-the-scenes support at both club and District activities; to Jim McKenzie for his efforts in making the District’s Rotary Night with the Schaumburg Flyers event a success, which made it possible for the club to meet its commitment to support Rotary’s polio eradication initiative, and to Bill Matthews for his outstanding efforts and tenure as club secretary and newsletter creator and editor. 

 

Jeff Winkenwerder earned the Service Above Self Award in recognition of his personal brand of hospitality that he extends to others at Rotary meetings; his organizational efforts pertaining to the club’s community grant award selection process where over $18,000 was donated, and his leadership role at both the club and District levels related to reviewing applications and interviewing and selecting students to receive need-based vocational scholarship assistance.

 

Rotarian of the Year honor was presented to Sharon Perry in recognition of her public relations efforts done on the club’s behalf, in addition to outstanding coordination of the successful 2011 Valentine’s Day Date Night fundraiser and club fellowship activities throughout the year.   

 

Paul Hennip, club foundation president, recognized board members Steve East, Greg Ring and Dr. Robert Steinberg for their contributions during the past year.  

 

Rotary District 6440 Governor Elect Dick Larson inducted McKenzie along with his incoming Board of Directors.  McKenzie, who is president and CEO of Schaumburg based Network Merchants, Inc., recently attended his first Rotary International Convention in New Orleans and came away feeling inspired and excited at being surrounded by fellow Rotarians from all over the world who make the mission of Rotary happen within their local clubs and communities.
