In keeping with its club motto of “Caring About Kids & Community” the Rotary Club of Schaumburg A.M. culminated its current year of giving at its June 15th Community Grant Awards Breakfast.
 
Schaumburg A.M. Rotary donated more than $20,000 throughout the 21/22 year and more than $485,000 during its 32-year history of service to the community that betters our world and supports of a variety of humanitarian needs in our back yard and beyond.
 
Five grants totaling $8,000 were awarded at the June 15th meeting to the following organizations –
 
WINGS Program Inc. (Women in Need Growing Stronger), Boy Scouts – Pathway to Adventure Council,
Children’s Advocacy Center of North & Northwest Cook County, Schaumburg Township Food Pantry and
FMSC (Feed My Starving Children)
 
During the year, the club and its members also donated more than $12,000 that funded –
  • need-based vocational scholarship assistance for local high school students pursuing technical training
  • an entry level set of professional grade automotive tools making it possible for a student studying automotive technology and demonstrating financial need to pursue post-secondary education and launch a career in this field
  • more than 100 new winter coats to students from low-income, high-risk families who utilize subsidized childcare and education services provided by the Marletta Darnall Schaumburg Child + Family Center
  • more than seventy pairs of new athletic style gym shoes to students from low-income families who attend School District 54’s Lakeview Elementary School
  • more than two dozen back packs filled with school supplies donated to children affected by domestic violence residing in WINGS transitional housing
  • two dozen holiday gift bags donated to shut-in senior citizens filled with thoughtful items to brighten their day
  • Ukraine humanitarian relief efforts
  • Rotary International’s polio eradication initiative
 
Schaumburg A.M. Rotary conducts multiple fundraising activities each year including Trivia for a Cause and a Souper Bowl of Soups Cook-Off soup tasting event featuring soups donated by area restaurants. Club fundraisers and service projects offer participants an opportunity to connect and come together for the good of their community and have fun at the same time.
 
Schaumburg A.M. Rotary meets for breakfast on most Wednesday mornings from 7:15 – 8:30 am at Schaumburg’s Egg Harbor Café located at 1310 American Lane. Membership is open to service-oriented residents and workers in the area wanting to give back to their community and take action that improves the lives of others.
