On Friday September 1st the Rotaract Club of Harper College held its inaugural meeting on the Harper campus with 15 of its 20 plus members in attendance.

Locally this student led group is jointly guided and supported by the Barrington Breakfast Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Schaumburg - Hoffman Estates and the Rotary Club of Schaumburg AM.

During the meeting club members had the opportunity to get to know one another and share many great ideas for future community service activities. Their first project is scheduled for Friday afternoon, September 22 where they will clean up and beautify a park in the Arlington Heights community.

Rotaract is a program of Rotary International designed for young men and women between the ages 18-30 that focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Currently there are 9,500 plus Rotaract clubs in 177 countries worldwide with more than 291,000 members. Rotaract members meet to exchange ideas with each other and leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun while giving back and working to develop innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.

Harper's Rotaract Club meets on campus in room X250ab on the 1st Friday of every month from 10-11 am. For more information contact Lauren Chilvers, Harper College Educational Foundation’s Scholarship & Special Projects Coordinator at (847) 925-6305 or
