Schaumburg AM Rotary is proud to announce that Ericka Serio, a seventh grade student and member of the Interact Club at Robert Frost Jr High, was named Youth Volunteer of the Year at Schaumburg’s April 23 Volunteer of the Year luncheon held at Chandler’s Chophouse.

This Rotary Club sponsors and supports the Frost Interact Club.

Worldwide there are 14,000+ Interact Clubs in 145 countries with more than 342,000 members.

In his nomination of Ericka, Frost Interact Faculty Advisor Gerritt Snyder cited the following examples of her volunteer activities that earned her this recognition -

"Ericka has -
  • given up her own lunchtime to sell popsicles and lollipops for various charitable causes
  • attended every single Interact Club meeting this school year
  • participated in an Interact Club meal packing event at Feed My Starving Children
  • volunteered on a Saturday to shop at Kohl’s for presents and gifts for local needy families over the holidays
  • returned to school on a Friday night to help sort and box food donated at a basketball game for a local food pantry
  • twice volunteered to spend some time with the senior citizens of Encore Village that included playing bocce ball and making fruit pizzas with them
Ericka is well on her way to becoming one of the next generation’s responsible and productive citizens."

Congratulation Ericka on receiving this honor and for making a difference in your Interact Club, school and community!
